Delta Upsilon has had a very busy semester! To kick off Spring 2019, our new Executive Board traveled to RLC in Dallas to connect and learn from other Sigma Kappa chapters. Exec returned with several fresh ideas that were implemented in Delta Upsilon this semester, including new finance guidelines, academic goals and standards, and effective and efficient implementations of informal and formal meetings. We are so excited to see what our Exec has in store for Fall 2019!
In February, we started eagerly planning for recruitment with a Recruitment Workshop involving the whole chapter. Our Fall 18 new member class got an inside look of the deep bond Delta Upsilon shares and what it means to be a Sigma Kappa. After a full afternoon of constructive ideas and team building exercises, we are very excited to kick off Recruitment in the fall with our VPM, Annie Rhodes, and her 2018 Recruitment Team. We cannot WAIT to welcome our Fall 2019 new member class home this upcoming August!
As we do every spring, we kicked it in gear for Greek Week 2018. We had the privilege to be paired with Sigma Phi Epilson. Our activities chairmen, Hannah Modzinski and Madeline Finkelstine, worked all semester planning and prepping for Team 7’s theme. Missouri State’s overall theme this year was “It's Showtime”. The overall theme presented so much room for creativity to all of the chapters and teams. Team 7’s theme was revealed as “It's show time New York”. Delta Upsilon had so much fun participating in all the Greek Week activities. Our Greek Goddess, Madison Cooper, worked hard throughout the Greek Week activities, including the field games, God and Goddess Pageant, and Greek Jam. All her hard work paid off as she won Greek Goddess. Our Greek Jammer’s put in countless hours over the course of the semester, and wowed everyone with their show stopping performance. All the hard work paid off since we were able to win Greek Week!!
We were so honored to receive 3 awards at the STAR awards. We won, Outstanding Membership Development, Outstanding Community Relations & Philanthropic Work, and Most Panhellenic Association Philanthropic Donations. In addition, this semester we raised over $5,000 for the Sigma Kappa Foundation through our philanthropy events Grilled Cheese and Active for Alz, put on by our Vice President of Philanthropic Services, Mackenzie Stdko-Simon. We look forward to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s this fall under her leadership, and are working hard to fundraise all summer leading into the fall semester. However, our efforts in the fight to end Alzheimer’s is year round; if you are interested, please join our Walk team, Sigma Kappa Delta Upsilon, at http://act.alz.org/site/TR/Walk2017/MO-GreaterMissouri?pg=entry&fr_id=10542.
As the semester drew to a close, we had to say goodbye to the Fall 2015 new member class. Thank you ladies for all of your hard work and dedication to Delta Upsilon, you will be dearly missed. Delta Upsilon is so lucky to have awesome alumnae like you; best of luck on your next big adventure. Congratulations to our bear grads of 2019!
This summer, we have sisters all over the world, from Florence, Italy, to Destin, Florida. Three months is so long, but lucky for us, we get to see our sisters this summer during our Summer Meeting weekend. Until then, we will see everyone in August during Recruitment.
